Things you don't know about colored glaze glass!

Colored glaze glass is a kind of wear-resistant, acid-resistant, and alkali-resistant decorative glass product obtained by printing inorganic glaze (also known as ink) on the surface of the glass, and then drying, tempering or heating processing, and sintering the glaze on the surface of the glass for a long time. This product has high functionality and decorativeness. It has many different colors and patterns, such as strips, meshes electric patterns, etc. Patterns can also be designed separately according to the different needs of customers.
Colored glaze glass generally refers to high-temperature glaze glass. After the glaze is printed, it needs to be sintered on the surface of the glass at a temperature of 600-700℃. Low-temperature glaze, also known as low-temperature ink, is a product after low-temperature ink is printed on the surface of the glass and dried. The drying temperature generally does not exceed 200℃.
Because low-temperature glaze does not need to pass through high temperature, some organic colorants can be used in its pigments, so the color is richer and more selectivity. However, the adhesion of low-temperature glaze to glass is worse than that of high-temperature glaze, and most of them can be removed with fingernails. At the same time, the color durability is not as good as high-temperature glaze. It is generally used more in home appliances and electronic glass. Silk screen printing refers to the method of printing glaze on glass. Both high-temperature glaze and low-temperature glaze can adopt silk screen printing process. Silk screen printing is generally compared with roller printing. Roller printing generally only prints full or regular patterns.

Oily glaze, water-based glaze, lead-free glaze
In the past, the glaze used for colored glaze glass was oily, that is, the pigment needed to be mixed with oily solvent and alkyd resin before printing. Therefore, VOC (volatile organic compounds) are generated in the production of colored glaze glass, which has a certain impact on operators and the environment.
In recent years, water-based glazes have begun to rise. Water-based glazes use water to replace oily solvents and alkyd resins, making the production process of colored glaze glass healthier and more environmentally friendly. However, because the dispersibility and adhesion of water as a solvent are significantly worse than oil, the production process requirements are higher.
The emergence of lead-free glazes is also a requirement for health and environmental protection. In the early years, many glazes often added lead glass or other lead-containing materials to the glaze to lower the melting point of the glaze and increase the color saturation. In recent years, as the concept of environmental protection has become popular, many glaze manufacturers have launched lead-free glazes, which are similar to lead-containing glazes.

Colored glaze patterns and visual illusions
Colored glaze glass for buildings generally uses designed geometric patterns such as dots and lines. If these patterns are well designed, the building and space can show a simple and generous style. But in some cases, if the geometric pattern is not handled carefully, visual illusions will occur.

Performance characteristics of glazed glass
1. Cheaper and easier to install than other materials such as brick, stone, or wood.
2. Various colors and patterns (generally customizable according to customer requirements) with a wide selection. In the curtain wall combination, it can contrast other glass or match colors.
3. Glazed glass can be installed on the supporting structure.
4. It has the characteristics of non-absorption, non-penetration, and easy to clean.
5. The glaze is an inorganic glaze of the same glass material, which does not fade or peel off, so the original color tone is consistent with the life of the building.
6. The glaze is easy to accept the non-hard adhesive used to block the arch shoulder back.
7. The glaze can absorb and reflect part of the solar heat energy, which has the effect of energy saving.
8. It can be processed by coating, interlayer, synthetic hollow, and other composite processing to obtain special functions for other uses.
9. After tempering, the product has good mechanical function, impact resistance and thermal shock resistance, and higher safety function.
10. The sunshade effect is significant.
