Introduction to U-Profile Glass
U-profile glass (also known as channel glass) is a novel glass material for wall systems; it derives its name from its distinctive "U"-shaped cross-section. It is manufactured using quartz sand as the primary raw material through a process involving high-temperature melting, calendering, and annealing. Originating in Europe with a production history spanning over 50 years, U-profile glass is a standard product used in large-scale architectural projects. While widely adopted in Europe and the Americas, its application in China began in the 1990s. As architectural design becomes increasingly internationalized, U-profile glass has now been utilized in over 20,000 construction projects worldwide.
Low-Iron U-Profile Glass
Low-iron U-profile glass (often referred to as "ultra-clear" U-profile glass) contains less than 150 ppm of iron; the specific product typically has an iron content of around 120 ppm.
Light Transmittance: The single-layer light transmittance (visible light transmission) of standard U-profile glass is 86%.
Low-iron U-profile glass appears nearly colorless, whereas standard U-profile glass has a greenish tint.
