Tempered glass is different from Pyrex

In the glass building materials market, it is often used in many fields, and the path decoration is as big as the wall. Glass is loved by consumers with its unique charm, especially tempered glass with high safety. Glass is widely used in daily life, and there are many kinds of glass materials. Tempered glass and Pyrex glass are also common. Many people want to know the difference between them so they can make a better choice. So here is a special introduction to toughened glass and Pyrex glass difference.

The functions of tempered glass:

1. Security. When the glass is damaged by external forces, the fragments will become small obtuse particles similar to honeycomb, which is not easy to cause harm to the human body.

2. High intensity. The impact strength of tempered glass with the same thickness is 3-5 times that of ordinary glass, and the bending strength is 3-5 times that of ordinary glass.

3. Thermal stability. Toughened glass has good thermal stability and can withstand the temperature difference of ordinary glass 3 times and 200℃.

The difference between tempered glass and Pyrex glass:

1. Toughened glass for different purposes is widely used in construction, decoration, automobile manufacturing industry (doors and Windows, curtain walls, interior decoration, etc.). Furniture manufacturing (furniture matching, etc.) , and home appliance manufacturing (TV sets, ovens, air conditioners, refrigerators, etc.). Pyrex is mainly used in the daily necessities industry (Pyrex crisper, Pyrex tableware, etc.). And the medical industry (mostly used in medical ampoules and experimental beakers).

2. Different effects of temperature change. Pyrex is a type of glass with strong thermal impact (can withstand rapid cooling and heating temperature changes, small coefficient of thermal expansion) and high service temperature (high strain temperature and softening temperature), so it can be safely used in ovens and microwaves even in the case of sudden temperature changes. A sudden change in temperature of tempered glass microwave oven may cause a burst phenomenon. In the process of making tempered glass, due to the "nickel sulfide" inside, the glass expands with the change of time and temperature, and there is a possibility of self-explosion. The oven doesn't work.

3. When the heat resistant glass is broken in different ways, it will crack and will not fly away. Pyrex is not at risk of self-explosion from nickel sulphide, because Pyrex cools slowly and there is no concentrated energy inside the glass, which will not fly away if broken. When the tempered glass breaks, it explodes and flies away. In the process of tempered glass, prestress and condensation energy are formed inside the glass, so when it is damaged or self-exploding, the condensation energy will be released, forming fragments and flying away, while producing an explosion sound.
