U-shaped Glass
1.Introduction to U-shaped Glass
U-shaped glass (also known as uglass) is continuously produced through a process of first rolling and then forming. It gets its name from its "U"-shaped cross-section. As a novel building profile glass, it comes in a wide variety of types. It features good light transmission without transparency, excellent thermal insulation and sound insulation performance, higher mechanical strength than ordinary flat glass, simple construction, unique architectural and decorative effects, and can save a large amount of light metal profiles, thus having a wide range of applications.
Classification by color:
Colorless, various colors by spraying, various colors by film coating. Colorless is commonly used.
Classification by surface state:
Embossed, smooth, fine-patterned. Embossed is commonly used.
Classification by strength:
Ordinary, tempered, film-coated, reinforced film-coated, and filled with insulation layer.
As a wall material, U-shaped glass can be used in building interior walls, exterior walls, partitions, and other parts. Exterior walls are generally used in multi-storey buildings and have many applications in architecture.
2.Installation Process
Fix the aluminum profile frames to the building using stainless steel bolts or rivets. Carefully clean the inner surface of the U-shaped glass before inserting it into the frame.
Cut the buffer plastic parts (for stabilization) to the corresponding length and place them into the fixed frame.
When installing the last U-shaped glass panel, if the width allowance of the opening is insufficient to fit a full panel, the U-shaped glass can be cut along the length direction to match the remaining width. During installation, the cut U-shaped glass should first be inserted into the frame, then installed in accordance with the requirements of Article 5.
When installing the last three U-shaped glass panels, first insert two panels into the frame, then install the third panel to seal.
Adjust the temperature expansion and contraction gaps between U-shaped glass panels, especially in areas with large annual temperature differences.
When the height of the U-shaped glass is not more than 5m, the allowable deviation of the frame's verticality is 5mm.
When the horizontal width of the U-shaped glass exceeds 2m, the allowable deviation of the levelness of horizontal components is 3mm; when the height of the U-shaped glass is not more than 6m, the allowable deviation of the span deflection of components is less than 8mm.
Cleaning the glass: After completing one wall, clean the residual marks on the surface.
Insert elastic gaskets into the gaps between the frame and the glass; the contact area of the gaskets with the glass and frame shall not be less than 12mm.
Fill the joints between the frame and glass, glass and glass, and frame and building structure with elastic sealing materials such as glass adhesive (or silicone sealant).
The load borne by the frame shall be directly transferred to the building; the U-shaped glass wall is a non-load-bearing wall and shall not bear force.
When installing the glass, wipe the inner surface clean; after installation, wipe the dirt off the outer surface.
