Introduction to Ultra-Clear Low-Iron Patterned Glass
Ultra-clear patterned glass is primarily used for solar cell encapsulation and is an indispensable component of solar photovoltaic cells.
It is produced using raw materials with extremely low iron content instead of standard glass-making minerals. While the manufacturing process is largely similar to that of ordinary patterned glass, specialized rollers are used to impress a unique pyramidal pattern onto the surface of the ultra-clear glass, resulting in a product characterized by low iron content, high light transmission, and low reflectivity. For the 3.2mm and 4mm glass thicknesses most commonly used in the domestic market, solar transmittance typically reaches 90%–92%.
Based on the composition of standard ultra-clear flat glass, this solar-grade glass incorporates lanthanum oxide (a rare-earth element) into its formula. The front surface undergoes a texturing treatment to create a degree of haze, thereby reducing light reflection.
The reverse side features a specialized pattern that significantly enhances solar transmittance at oblique angles. Combined with the glass's inherent high transparency, this ensures excellent light and energy transmission even under prolonged solar exposure, ultimately enabling solar modules to achieve higher light-to-energy conversion rates.
